Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) –Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani met with Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Prize laureate.
In the meeting, Miss Yousafzai commended the Kurdistan Region for being a safe haven for nearly two million refugees and internally displaced persons affected by terrorism and war. She also praised the culture of tolerance and coexistence in the Kurdistan Region.
Moreover, she outlining her plans for visiting refugee camps, stating that she will be assisting women and children affected by terror.
Prime Minister Barzani applauded the Pakistani activist for her determination against the ideology of terror. Moreover, he stated that the KRG is ready to assist her in her endeavors in the Kurdistan Region.
The Kurdistan Region Prime Minister highlighted that his government has assisted girls and women affected by the atrocities of ISIS and will continue its efforts to rescue kidnapped females.
Mr. Barzani also briefed Miss Yousafzai on gender equality across the institutions of the KRG and pledged support to Miss Yousafzai’s initiative.
