Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – In a congratulatory message, Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Omer Said Ali on his election as the General Coordinator of the Change Movement (Gorran).

He also extended his congratulations to the members of the Executive body and new leadership of the Change Movement. 

In his message, Prime Minister Barzani stated, “By assuming the highest position of an important political force in the Kurdistan Region, you will bear new responsibilities and duties. You also start a new chapter in your eventful life as a Peshmerga, who fought for so many years, defending the rights of Kurdistan.” 

“We view your election with optimism. We are hopeful that the common objectives of all the parties in Kurdistan to fulfil the legitimate rights of our people, will bring us closer, with you and the Gorran Movement and all the other parties and settle the current issues.”

He stated, “We have to take advantage of the opportunity that exists today for the people of Kurdistan, in the best way possible for the interests of Kurdistan and the rights of our people, as we have been fighting for them for centuries.”
