Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Douglas Silliman and his accompanying delegation.

They discussed the Iraqi parliamentary elections, scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 12. They hoped that the new government in Baghdad would bring political stability, security and economic development to the country.

Ambassador Silliman hoped that Kurdistan parties will preserve their unity and influence in Baghdad, and play an important role in the success of the elections and the formation of the next Iraqi government.

Prime Minister Barzani stated that serious efforts will be exerted to create a strong and united bloc among the Kurdistan political parties at the next Iraqi Parliament.

The situation in Kurdistan and the greater region was also discussed in the meeting.
